I was so eager to finish Chetan Bhagat’s 2 states since yesterday evening when I got it. And to make use of parallelism me and my roomie got 2 copies instead of 1 😉 . So just finished reading it and its good really…awesome in fact. All the strict literary criticism is ok but i have always loved his writing style. His observation skill (especially his one liners about females 😉 ) & sense of humor is witty, entertaining and lovely. The story in 2 states is emotional & it left me wondering how many India’s are there in India ? A Punjabi & Tamil marriage…looks like a disaster. They don’t understand each other at all and its so hard to make them sit together and sort out the things. Then finally during the marriage ceremony in Chennai, there are so many hilarious things happening.
The character of Ananya is also wonderful. She is smart, witty and full of confidence. The house hold stuff looks really tough for her but she strikes the chord at the first Punjabi marriage function she attends and everyone starts liking her and her confidence. That is when the boy’s side ,sort of, gets ready to accept a Madrasan as their daughter-in-law.
It is a must read to have a taste of cultural variations across India.
May every guy get his Ananya and every girl, her Krish !
God bless !
