Few days back, I had to give Oracle DBA training to a group of about 20-25 semi-technical people (Semi-technical, because most of them were not really DBA kinda folks doing all the techie stuff with Oracle, but in-fact having learned some bits & bytes of Oracle sometime back and these days looking into application functionality from technical perspective). I, having just about 10 months of experience with DBA profile, had to cover, everything about Oracle starting from creating database and up to performance tuning ๐ Its really an interesting job if the audience is good. But not an easy game. You have to know everything and have to be ready to answer people’s queries (some stupid & dumb questions also ๐ I had to cover a total of about 350 slides in a day or less. So at times, really went fast and skipping some of things. It was a nice experience as a whole ๐
& in the end when I finished it, was dead tired ๐
Hats off to the trainers, who stand for the full day and that too for many days continuously ๐

this is great man…
good achievement.
teaching something does mean that u r very good at it. wow.
Hi sidhu,
Great to hear that you tasted the fun of training.Being a trainer myself for Oracle Database Technologies for more than 4 years, I completely agree that training kills you after the session ends but its a nice thing to see that light bulb on over some body when they understand something so complex as like Oracle Database Technologies.Isnt it?
Cheers,
Aman….
Yeap Aman
Literally it kills. At the end of the day my head was screwed up like anything. But you do enjoy it and increase your clarity of concepts many folds after answering peoples’ questions. But being a sort of new-bie [it has been almost 10 months ,since I became a DBA & I havn’t really tasted the recovery thing yet] SO it was bit difficult for me ๐ But I enjoyed it ๐

I wish you wont taste that in near time too.Its always good to recoved in a test db than in prod, trust me ;-).

Yeap True Aman
I have seen people going through and its next to “horrible”. So better to do it on Test database ๐
BTW training coming again…next week…Lets see what comes out this time ๐

It is not horrible , it is part of game/job , better gain confidence early.
First time you will feel โhorribleโ , but latter you feel it is day in day out job.
