3 Multipurpose

I had to post a letter, so me and one of my friend went to post office to do the same. First it was day before yesterday, then yesterday and today when we were finally able to do it. Daily, the queue was so long that we used to come back with the hope of doing it tomorrow. Today, before lunch we took out some time to do it. The queue was not that long but not really a queue. It looked like the tail of a dog ;) but anyways we fixed the confusion and stood at the end of the queue. The aunty sitting at the counter was really crappy and frusti types. She called an uncle from the queue and my friend had just started to move that she cried like a cat “ yeh to senior hain…aap bhi senior ho kya ?” So it was time to stand there and wait. Well, as i said the queue was not that long so we were free in almost 15 minutes. But what attracted by attention was something else. We were standing adjacent to counter 3 and it read 3 Multipurpose(meaning you could get multiple services over the counter). But actually, it took us 3 days to solve a single purpose :P . ...

2 states…

I was so eager to finish Chetan Bhagat’s 2 states since yesterday evening when I got it. And to make use of parallelism me and my roomie got 2 copies instead of 1 ;) . So just finished reading it and its good really…awesome in fact. All the strict literary criticism is ok but i have always loved his writing style. His observation skill (especially his one liners about females ;) ) & sense of humor is witty, entertaining and lovely. The story in 2 states is emotional & it left me wondering how many India’s are there in India ? A Punjabi & Tamil marriage…looks like a disaster. They don’t understand each other at all and its so hard to make them sit together and sort out the things. Then finally during the marriage ceremony in Chennai, there are so many hilarious things happening. ...

Why ?

Why does it happen that: You feel like calling some of your friends and none of them picks your call. You feel like meeting some of them and they are either busy or gone out of station. You are alone on a long weekend; your mind seems to get stuck and out of order. You think a lot but are hardly able to do a thing. You plan about going somewhere the next day but the next day is also as crappy as yesterday. When nothing seems to work you turn to blog posting :P. Trying to…

Since yesterday night i am trying to write a post and today started one more but haven’t been able to complete any of them. Sometimes, you just can’t find words to write. Mind goes kind of blank/dead. To deal with that frustration, thought about writing another post ;) . Oops…this also counts as a post. May be time to try completing those two again :P . Comments Comment by Aman…. on 2009-10-03 16:56:45 +0530 Exactly the same feeling that is there in my mind as well about a post which I am thinking to write since last couple of days but some how, some way, just not able to start it! Some time , all you can do is just feel and not express it! But you stubborn fellow, you wrote a post to tell that you can’t write a post eh, cool 😛 !! ...

Delayed online ;)

Yesterday, my landlord called to inform that our this month’s electricity bill of 10,000 INR (yea, the post effects of chilling in AC :D ) was pending and today was the last date for the payment. Without any doubt, for people like us, who leave for office in the morning and come back in the evening paying online is the best option. So just like everything else, i went to BSES website and checked for the methods of payment. Everything so sweet but they said that payment done online will take 3 days to get processed so you should pay three days before the last date to save yourself from any late payment charges. I am just wondering that what is the use of making it online, if it takes 3 days to reach them. Nothing less than misuse of technology, in my opinion :( . ...

India & India

Actually Aman won the game and he posted it before me. So i am not going to talk about the usual stuff ;) . It was my long time wish to go to Vasant Vihar and see the Emporio Mall. There are 2 malls actually; one is DLF place and another Emporio Mall. DLF place, i would say is just like any other mall, hosting all the normal brands and all. As we all were first timers, we came out missing the hi-fi-ness about the place and then noticed the entrance to Emporio mall. Man it is, i guess the poshest mall in Delhi. The brands, restaurants and other stuff, i have almost never heard about. And the prices were totally jaw dropping. We had glimpse of all the three floors and each one was more amazing than the other. Finally feeling how rich India was, we came back smiling. Took an auto from there (oh yes we middle class, the mango people :) ) and reached home. ...

Ladki Punjabi hai

After I came out of Punjab, I was met with a new caste(caste or what ?)-describing-terminology “ladka/ladki Punjabi hai”. No such thing was there in Punjab. It was Jatt/Ramgarhia…in Sikhs, Pandit/Baniya/Khatri… in Hindus and so on. It was after coming to Delhi that i heard about this new thing that ladka/ladki Punjabi hai. What annoys me the most is that everybody living in Punjab is a Punjabi so what this classification is ? For me, to best of my knowledge being Punjabi means you/your ancestors belong to Punjab. Let it be a Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian or anyone else. So what does this definition mean ? Can someone shed some light ? ...

Would you ?

There are some people in this world who are plain *#&(#&$#*($*& and they would not mend their ways come what may. What would you do if you see someone like that in trouble and you seem to be in a position to give a helping hand ? Would you help him/her ? Would it be a pre-decided thing that whether to help him/her or not or it would depend upon the state of mind at that time ? ...

Coffee...this time ;)

Once more…coffee…oops…its getting too much probably ;) . This time we went to Barista :D . Getting seats was also a struggle. We had to get our name listed and he told us to wait for 15-20 mintues. The guy who was managing all this was almost a complete idiot, so the first impression was not so good ;) . We were three guys. After getting the seats, we ordered 2 hot and 1 cold Cappuccino (Oh yes, this time also i googled for spells ;) ). After some time he got 2 cups; in one cup something hot and cold in the other one. We were surprised to see the third cup missing but just waited. It was not Cappuccino actually, as we rightly guessed (What i was dead sure was that Cappuccino, at least contained some milk ;) ). By the time we were done with this, he got the actual order. So we started enjoying the coffee we had ordered :P. By the time we finished it, i decided to screw him up and ask for the feedback form if he added that wrong-order-on-our-table stuff in our bill. But but but…he charged only for the right order and we spared him from the not-so-good feedback ;) ...

An "old" boy

Time flies; they say. Its so true. Day before yesterday i was exploring youtube and came across few videos of Lux style awards held in Karachi where Atif Aslam & Shehzad Roy paid tribute to the legendary singer Reshma. Given her age (she has turned 60+, i think), she was not able to sing properly. It made me recall my childhood days. We used to listen to Lahore radio station which frequently played Reshma’s songs. The most popular was haye o rabba naio lagda dil mera. Since childhood her voice has been so familiar and she has been a respected and “motherly” figure in my eyes. Then it was the articles in Punjabi newspapers about her, her life that how simple living she had, she will always keep dupatta on her head (she says jokingly that dressing style of Reshma & Sikhs has never changed and will never change) and will cook for all her guests at home. Also the stories that how hard it was for her to read and memorize his first Urdu song. It has been almost 14-15 years to all this. Still the memories are so fresh in my mind. And now when Reshma was on stage and looking old it reminds of how grown up i am; an “old” boy. Time flies…really ! ...
