Are you sure ?

In last 6 months or so, I was looking for a job change so I created my profiles on different job portals. This post is an advice that if you are doing the same, never create your profile on timesjobs.com. It is completely crappy website. They have nothing useful to send you. Rather you will get some useless mails talking about say Storage Admin whereas your profile is of a C/C++ developer. Moreover I couldn’t find an option to delete the profile from there. Some of the standard mail subjects you will always be receiving from their side: ...

Slaves...

Have you ever observed that the feeling of slavery (in Indians) has not completely gone ? It still runs in our blood. That pleasing-the-master feeling, habits and the nature just don’t away. Being in corporate sector, I can relate it to so many things happening daily. Just few of the common observations: How difficult it is to say NO to your boss ? How comfortable most of the people are in expressing their “personal life” needs ? How much buttering-of-the-boss happens in most of the companies ? How we never say NO to the client because he pays us ! How we are made to work on Saturdays, Sundays and late evenings and we don’t have the guts to say NO ! How we don’t have the guts to call a wrong a wrong ! How stupidly we think that if we don’t agree to what the guy sitting in front of us says, he will feel bad ! And so many other things. Is there a hope that India would get rid of all this ? ...

Hello...

Again, it has been really long since I did my last post ;) . Actually tried writing something many times but couldn’t complete it. Sometimes you just aren’t able to complete a post. Ohhh this is the first post of the new year so very very happy new year to everybody coming here (Better late than never ;) ). This post should be about the new things and resolutions for the new year ;) . Well, a major change is that my job has changed and the new one is much more demanding (as compared to the previous one ;) ). So these days I am having the real feeling of working in IT sector ;) . And it is one of the reasons that I am not able to give that much time to blogging. Talking about the resolutions, I think the first should be that I should write more often on the blog ;) . Ooops…again nothing much to write…so, before adding any more crap, this post should be terminated here :D . Will see you more often, this year :) ! Promise ! ...

Rocket Singh – a must watch

Watched Rocket Singh yesterday and its a must watch. If you understand a bit of corporate culture you will relate to each and every bit of the story. Totally honest and no-crap story. No faaltu songs, romance and all. Excellent performances by all the characters. Do watch it because its an intelligent film way away from the standard crap we are bombarded with ! Carrying Happiness !

At almost all the marriages I have attended, one thing that has always attracted my attention is the guys carrying lights and all the stuff with the baraat. This time I got a chance to click few pics of them. Everybody is lost in the celebrations and they are carrying the lights with the baraat with most of the times lights of their faces off. So here are 2 pics dedicated to all such folks who make such celebrations possible and the title that came to my mind at that time is “Carrying happiness” as that is what they are doing, No ? ...

This that

After I was just done with all the struggle required to buy a good PC, the keyboard and mouse combo I had chosen was Logitech Cordless Desktop® MX 3200 Laser. But sadly that set was crappy and all others that he showed, so I returned that back to dealer and took money back. Then I started searching for some simple keyboard and with a bit (or byte ? :P ) of help from Aman, settled for Logitech NewTouch™ Keyboard 200 (USB) (Just feel, how sweet it sounds from the name ;) ) ...

Emergency EXITs !

Very simple thing but do you manage to properly decode all the emergency signs and methods in metro or newly manufactured buses (There are hardly any in trains or old buses and too simple if any) ? What I noticed is that they are too difficult to understand even in daily travels. God forbid, if something should happen, I don’t think it is everybody’s cup of tea to make use of them. Shouldn’t be they made simple to understand ? ...

Heights of cost cutting

This is the cable Nokia is delivering with E71 these days; hardly 5-6 inches. And if you have to connect your phone to a PC, you need to sit and hold your phone man ;). Beauty ! Isn’t it the height of cost cutting that with a phone that costs 17000 INR, they can’t even give a proper cable. And oh yes, not to mention those crappy earphones :( . Nokia 1650 (Costs 1500 INR, i guess) and E71 (Costs 16000 INR +) come with same pair of earphones ;) . ...

Crap Unlimited ;)

It has been really long since I last posted on this blog (Last post was on 14th Oct, so we can safely assume that it has been actually pretty long :P ). Title of the post explains pretty much of the stuff and this post may also appear to be the same ie crap :D. Not much stuff to write but yes a lot of, to tell that why this long gap. There was so much of crap to see in last one month or so. First it was the RnD to buy a new Computer and then not being able to buy it because of unavailability of one component or the another. Finally when i succeeded in buying it and came back home, the keyboard & mouse was found to be used and defective. So had to go back immediately and get a new one. Not a good start probably. Then started the struggle of installing some OS. Not a big deal but another beauty to see that the system kept rebooting randomly. Tried switching OSes but to no avail. Then started adding, removing, adding again, removing again the RAM sticks and so on some 100 times ;) . Again no results and the focus shifted to motherboard. Finally it was declared that there was something fishy with the motherboard and it was the cause of this reboot thing. Did and made some people do some real good RnD and decided to buy another motherboard that supported the hardware properly. So went to Nehru Place and some dishoom dishoom with the dealer and finally succeeded in getting a new different motherboard. Now things should look good. Oh yes, the problem of rebooting was gone but Windows stared freezing randomly, again without any pattern or logic. So now what ? I was just thinking that what could be the game that noticed something crappy with the Hard disk. Ran some utilities and they told that the end of the hard disk was near ;) . Oh noooooo. Time to replace even the hard disk. So again went to the dealer. Explained him the issue (That this particular SMART attribute of HDD is not ok…heavy stuff ;) ). And he asked me to go to Seagate service center and submit it. Man it was like a kerosene distribution depot in India. So many people in queue to submit their defective disks (And from there you can pretty much guess the quality, Seagate is delivering these days ;) ). Finally after a week or so, got a new refurbished (yea, refurbished, not brand new :( ) Hard disk, installed it and i guess (yea guess ;) ) it seems to work fine. Windows did freeze once or twice initially but since then it has not shown those strains. Does that mean that the crap has ended ? You never know ! Hopefully, it has ;). ...
