Land of (un)reality shows...

Well, has everything on this bloody planet to be driven by money only ? Since last 2-3 years, there has been almost a flood of reality shows be it for music, dance or anything else X Y Z. One after another, all channels started something and the people who might not have been earning a single penny, got a chance to be judges and it was all gold. I have not watched much of all this but recently have been following Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee TV & Junoon kuch kar dikhane ka on NDTV imagine a bit. ...

And now its Delhi...

Yesterday, I had gone to office and came back at around 6. After half an hour one of my friend called to ask “Where are you ? All fine ?” And then i came to know that there had been serial blasts in Delhi. I switched on the TV and there was blood all around at all the blast sites. People were rushing around and moreover it was getting darker so help, search and other things were becoming difficult. Well, an unfortunate day for Delhi. ...

Justice ? please wait...

Isn’t it a crying shame for the country that after 24 years (since 1984) there have been no sentences in the registered anti Sikh riot cases (How many were actually registered is a question for another day). And now Jagdish Tytler wants some case against him to be shifted from Ludhiana to Delhi. Why ? So that he can use his influence and get free from the clutches of the law (if it is still alive ?). And its not only the case with 1984 riots cases, its the story of each and every such case. Gujrat is another example. How much the Gujrat riots tarnished the image of India internationally ? Who cares ? ...

Reservation in IITs

Reservations have already screwed up all the admission criterion’s, now comes another blow. They are again lowering the cut offs for SC/ST candidates. I just don’t understand what is wrong with the decision makers in India ? As this piece of news reads that earlier when the relaxation was at 40% if last general category student was having scored 5 in maths, 0 in physics and 3 in chemistry, an SC/ST student who had scored up to 40% lower- 3 in maths, 0 in physics and 1.8 in chemistry - was given a seat in the IITs. Now they want to make it 40%. That means if we keep the last general candidate’s marks constant then new limits for SC/ST students would be 2.5 in maths, 0 in physics and 1.5 in chemistry. ...

Of those reservations...

The reservation issue was again in news in past few months as Gujjars were asking for reservation in Rajasthan. I won’t write whether gujjars were right or wrong in asking for reservation but lets talk about the reservation itself first. I find this very idea of ‘cast based reservation’ stupid. It was a stupidity in the very first place. First thing you say people from some castes should be given some relaxation in the exams, admissions…whatsoever as they are financially weak and haven’t got access to all the facilities. Now are all the people from those castes same ? NO ! ...

Johny johny...no Papa

In last few weeks, a video showing kids reciting english poems in some school of Punjab has been making waves on youtube. It definitely looks funny during first watch. But soon it gives rise to serious questions about our education system. These kids don’t understand anything what they are speaking. They have just crammed this small poem and keep on reciting it daily without even trying to understand what does it mean, forget the American accent. And they are not at fault, rather we are responsible that they have got such an environment to grow up in. ...
