After I came out of Punjab, I was met with a new caste(caste or what ?)-describing-terminology “ladka/ladki Punjabi hai”. No such thing was there in Punjab. It was Jatt/Ramgarhia…in Sikhs, Pandit/Baniya/Khatri… in Hindus and so on. It was after coming to Delhi that i heard about this new thing that ladka/ladki Punjabi hai. What annoys me the most is that everybody living in Punjab is a Punjabi so what this classification is ? For me, to best of my knowledge being Punjabi means you/your ancestors belong to Punjab. Let it be a Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian or anyone else. So what does this definition mean ? Can someone shed some light ? ...

The complete title of the post is We Indians… Most of the time there are cars parked in front of our apartment and there is very little space to enter the door to stairs. Today when i came back from office and was entering the apartment there was an uncle standing with his back leaning with one of the cars and doing something on his mobile. There was hardly any space left to cross. Me and 2 of my roommates had to cross but that uncle didn’t move a bit but was rather doing left and right to make some space in pretty much ignorance. So the govt wants to do away with the concept of board exams for class Xth. What a stupid direction we want to walk-in ! Before thinking about this idea (which is a complete copy-paste from the West) has anybody tried to see the standard of education in school and colleges in India ? Education in India is one of the most terribly screwed up things. Govt institutions have fallen below all the standards and for private institutions it is a pure business. Colleges after colleges, universities after universities are opening like branches of a tree. They are charging sky touching fees which a very small percentage of people can afford to pay. Anyways, talking about the effects of doing away with the board exams, my main question is what advantages we/education standard is going to have from this concept ? So its celebration time as Slumdog has won Oscars like chocolates in a kids’ competition. Oh yes our very own A R Rahman has won 2 Oscars and that is the first time for India. It is great in so many ways. The biggest advantage i see is to Media as they have got the masala for whole of the next month (And keeping that in mind i already have almost decided to avoid TV (which in any case i already don’t watch for more than 10 minutes a day and that too is not working these days) and newspaper in coming 2 weeks, as there would be nothing to read and watch except (O)scars ). ...

It has been close to 2 years since i have been using Dish TV. And almost everything related with it sucks except the only reason because of which i went for it that there was ETC Punjabi available here (which is not there in TataSky). The remote control, customer care, service, website everything is all crap. The biggest frustration is the website. First of all it seems to be coded by some kids doing their school project. Then the options available are placed in such a dumbo and stupid manner. Since the time i bought it, i have never been able to recharge it without getting frustrated. Zee network, enterprise of such a big size, cannot pay for a nice looking and working website. BULLSHIT ! ...

Few days back i saw a new metal detector in my office building, just before the lift. It reminded me of my curiosity about the metal detectors. You see them at each and every place but never understand what they sound like when there is something right and what, when, something wrong ? Have always listened to their “beep-beep” but never knowing what did that mean ? Any ideas ?
