mere shauq da nahi aitbaar tainu…

A beauty by Ghulam Ali. First a little bit about history of this ghazal. It was originally written by Mirza Ghalib in Persian. Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum translated it to Punjabi and then Ghulam Ali added to the beauty by rendering it with perfection. Enjoy the masterpiece from the legends:

mere shauq da nahi aitbaar tainu
aaja vekh mera intezaar a ja
avein laran bahanane labhna en
ki tu sochna en sitamgaar a ja
mere shauq da nahi aitbaar tainu…
(sitamgaar – oppressor)

bhavein hizar te bhavein visaal hove
wakho wakh dohan diyan lazztan ne
mere sohnia ja hazaar wari
aaja pyaria te lakh waar a ja…
(hizar – seperation, visaal – union,meeting)

eh rivaaz e masjidan mandiran da
uthe hastiyan te khud-parastiyan ne
mai-khaane wich mastiyan hi mastiyan ne
hosh kar banke hoshiyaar a ja…

tu sada te tera dil sada
tainu avein raqeeb qurah paya
je tu mere janaaze te nahi aya
raah takdae teri mazaar a ja…

sukhi wasna je tu chauna e
mere ‘Ghaliba’ es jahaan andar
aaja rindan di bazm wich a beh ja
ethe baithde ne khaaksaar a ja…
(rind – one who likes to drink, bazm – mehfil, khaaksaar – low)

mere shauq da nahi aitbaar tainu
aaja vekh mera intezaar a ja
avein laran bahanane labhna en
ki tu sochna en sitamgaar a ja
mere shauq da nahi aitbaar tainu…

kade pattian di gal…

An awesome poetry. I don’t know the name of the writer. Gurdeep Singh sung this in his second album Hook. The whole album is a must listen. Awesome poetry and voice !

kade pattian gi gal
kade tahnian di gal
sanu das ja ni vaaye sade hanian di gal
kade pattian di gal…

kade soorjan ton puchan
kade tarian ton puchan
maruthal te jhana de kinarian ton puchan
koi dasda na lang chukke panian di gal
kade pattian di gal…

kade takkre tan aakhin uhnu edharo b lange
sada rom rom khair uhdi zindagi di mange
kade sun jaye akhian nimanian di gal
kade pattian di gal…

uhde bolan wich ambaran de geet sutte rehnde
uhde hassian chon rangle gulab ugg painde
uhnu yaad si mohabattan puranian di gal
kade pattian di gal…

tere bin…

A beautiful piece of poetry by Rabbi Shergill. This song talks about un-conditional love, so beautifully…plain awesome poetry…enjoy the lyrics:

tere bin
sanu sohnia
koi hor nahio labhna
jo de ke roohan nu sakoon
chukke jo nakhra mera…

ve main sare ghum ke vekhia
amreeka,roos malayshia
na kite b koi farak c
har kise di koi sharat c
koi mangda mera c sama
koi hunda soorat te fida
koi mangda meri c wafa
na tu mangda meri an bala
tere bin…
tere bin
hor na kise mangni merian bala
tere bin
hor na kise karni dhup wich chaan…

jive ruk gia c tu zara
nahio bolna main sari umar
jive aakhia c akhan chura
rovein ga sanu yaad kar
hassia c main haasa ajeeb
par tu nahi c hassia
dil wich tere jo raaz c
mainu tu kyon ni dasia
tere bin
sanu eh raaz kise hor nahio dassna
tere bin
peed da ilaaz kis waid kolo labhna…

milia c aj mainu tera ik patra
likhia c jis te tu sher waare shah da
pad ke c usnu hanjhu ik dullhia
akhan ch band c
ai raaz aj khulia
k tere bin
eh mere hanjhu bin kise hor nahio chummna
k tere bin
eh mere hanjhu mitti wich rulna…
(waare shah – Waris Shah, who wrote the epic of Heer Ranjha)

A rough translation of the same can be found here.

kadi saleeb te kadi birkh…

kadi saleeb,te kadi birkh,te kadi dariya
tu meri soch ch kis kis na shai da roop lia
jado mein birakh san
us pal tan ban saki na tu
jado chirag main bania
bani tu tej hawa
tere te mere vichale nadi c raule di
main apne geetan da pull bana nai sakia
utha hi sakia, na tu dil mere diyan partan
uhna de heth c tera hi naa likhia pia…

oh bada be-lihaaz…

A beautiful song by Surinder Kaur. I don’t know the writer’s name. You can listen to it here.

tainu bhulna tan kujh nahi mushkil
jhalle dil da ilaaz ki kariye…
