Mails…everything…lost

with 4 comments

After pretty long time, I logged in to one of my oldest Yahoo mail account to check for a mail. It logged me in successfully but threw a bloody message “Your account have been de-activated and all your stuff has been deleted”. It was my first internet email account. I stopped using it long time back as Gmail almost compeletly replaced Yahoo but i am still a regular user of Yahoo messenger and use this account to login. Being the first account there was so much of information stored there. I lost it all :( . Someone not touching yahoo at all can be told that he didn’t use Yahoo services for long but being a regular user of Yahoo messenger its so sad to lose everything like this :( .

:(

  1. Man , they have a policy that you must log in to the mail in some days or it will be deactivated with the contents delete. It would be totally your fault to overlook this part, yahoo is right. I know , I had the same experience couple of years back with rediff. Can feel the pain. That’s why its better to put up your stuff in multiple mail accounts.

Nope, its better to have your email downloaded to your PC where it becomes YOURS. I use GMAIL (and others), but everything gets pulled down through good-old POP3 to Thunderbird, which gets backed up by me.

Multiple mail accounts are an impossible thing man. I have been a regular user of Yahoo messenger. Was just missing the mail !

True. Downloading to your machine is the safest thing. This was really an old account dating back to university times. So lots of mails (though might be useless) were there :(
